Whitecap white was a truck color, have no idea what the number is. Generally, pre 1949 red is IH 50/Dupont 7410/PPG 70019, post 1949 IH 2150/DuPont 96766/PPG 71310. 2150 is not the paint that came on the post 1949 tractors, and did not appear until Oct 1961, but is the one they sell at their dealerships. It replaced IH 201, I don't know if 201 can be mixed. There is no official rim color as they were galvanized. Many opinions on what is "correct" (none are), so pick the silver-gray shade you like.

CNKS, I was under the impression that the rims were cadmium plated. Is that right? Not nitpicking, just want to know for my own enlightenment. I know a restorer that actually had his replated and not painted so they were correct.

IH had some cadmium plated parts later on but I think the rims were galvanized, they are not supposed to be shiny, that's why I don't like aluminum paint. I believe the rims produced in the mid to late 50's were painted, not sure of the date. Again, there was no official paint code, as IH (and Allis) got their rims from an outside supplier, and only specified corrosion resistance, not the shade of paint. This info comes from Guy Fay, he can correct the details.
The only original rims I paid any attention to are the ones on my Super H, I don't think it had ever been repainted. They were rusty, but the remaining color sure looked like galvanizing to me. Just like the old faded garbage cans, or chain link fences.

What about 1949 itself? I keep seeing pre 1949 and post 1949. I have 2-1949's, a cub and an H. Which paint was used IN 1949? Thanks, Kevin

I believe it was March 7, 1949 that the change occurred, note that the paint in question at that time became 1102B, not 2150.
