450D vs 6' shredder

Got a stupid question. But I want to ask before I spend the money.
I have a 450D my dad had before he died. I brought it to Texas to just fix up...but work it when I needed it. It has an after market 3 point on it and independant pto.
I am considering buying a 6' shredder (bushhog) to mow a pasture. No real heavy stuff, just knock down the tall weeds and saltgrass.
Will the tractor have the HP to pull a 6' shredder and will I need weights on the front to hold it down. I am looking at a new Bushhog, not the best grade...but decent.
The tractor runs good, dad just overhauled it 3 years ago, but it needs to be pulled a little and cleaned out. Be better to run it a little hard than just loafing around loading up.
I am more used to 300U and 350U tractors.
Please give me your thoughts.
Thanks

Thanks guys. I will more than likely just get a 6 foot model so I can use it on the other tractors once in awhile...and still get it on my trailer. Too poor to get a flat, have to use the between the fenders gooseneck I have.
Guess we will see what she will do in saltgrass.

An H will handle a 6 ft, and does not have to have weights (might be helpful though). A 450 will play with it, unless you are cutting trees.

Bill,

I'd get the 7' model.

And yes, a set of front end weights. Those jaspers are heavy and they hang wayyyyy back there too. :>)

I would put and 8 footer behind it and no you should not need ft. weights on a 450 D there nose heavey anyhow. And if she is a bit light on poney power i would just bump her up . I ran one for 5 years before i had a stupid attack and sold it worked alot of ground with that old tractorr and put up a bunck of hay and wish i had a dollar for every load of corn that i pulled out of the fields with it. It sure sounded nice plowen with the 4x14's semi mounts and on a still day you could count the rounds around the field by the rows of smoke hanging up in the air . At night she would stand about 6 to 8 inches of fire out the pipe.
