Will a C113 head work on a C123?

What are the differences between C113 head & C123 head? Will it restrict power? Do the valves interchange? Do all C123s have rotocap exaust? I have a pretty bad C123 head and a pretty good extra C113 head to go on a 51 Super C with step head 3 1/4 pistons. The valve kit for 113 & 123 on this site is not for Rotocaps. My SC head is a 251172-R1 and doesn't have rorocaps. Thanks for any advice MM

Count the head bolts and if they are the same number it should work. I have a head off a 140 on my 1940 B and it works just fine. You might lose some power but then again you might not even notice it.

My IH manual is a little unclear if these tractors
had rotocaps when they were built. The manual says the rotocaps are available for factory and field installation. They would fit the Super A and the Super AV too. The manual also states that the Farmall H and H series tractors had factory installed rotocaps and the M too after SN
FBKM 281977. I'm not sure if the rocker arms and push rods are interchangeable between the C and Super C. The geometry may be different. A machine shop can probably rework the head from
from the Super C. They can install new valve guides, valve seats if needed and any valves that may be too thin. I would install new springs too. They can also milled the head if needed.

MM, In a word NO, I believe the C123 head had more head bolts to begin with, Im sure there are other changes also, but some of the other guys can give them to you.

scotty: Actally the early C-123 engines had a 9 bolt head. The 14 bolt head didn't come until early 140 - 240 production. My 130 has a 9 bolt head and my 140 has 14.
