Gordon: Having said I was rather partial to good rum. I can't say that I've seen any really good rum in the past 20 years. Then maybe, I'm a poor one to ask as I probably consume less than 80 ounces per year. It would take me a long time to sample the wide variety available.

I can understand why someone would want to manufacture their own beverage in 2005. The food and beverage industry have resorted to manufacturing just about everything from the cheapest raw material available, then artificially flavouring to suit what is being created. If we only knew some of the ingrediants going into products, we probably wouldn't consume the half of them. I don't know how well manufactured food and beverage products are labeled as per ingrediants in the US. I do know here in Canada our law makers have determined it is more important to have both English and French on labeling than it is to list all ingregiants.

Gordon: I don't have any experience or recipes on making moonshine. I have been graced with the opertuinty of being allowed to sample the product a few times. I never was very excited about going back for seconds. Being a bluenoser from Nova Scotia we were always quite partial to GOOD RUM.

Although I do not partake in alcohol any more for certain reasons of a personal nature. But I must agree with Hugh... Good Rum tends to hit the spot!

Gordon,I had a boss once who told me get a cup from the water cooler. He poured my little paper cup full and it started to melt before I could drink it.Called it his pinstriping juice.Claimed it steadied out the hand for pinstriping work.
