How is a dozer blade attached to the tractor, and where can I get parts to make this attachment? (I have tractor & blade, but they're unattached.)

Thanks much, Carl. I phoned Clapp, & Doc there says he'll check around his spread to see if he has any of those parts lying around. I'll phone Cook tomorrow. Appreciate your help.--JJ

Thanks a lot, Carl--that's a terrific photo. Unfortunately my computer won't (or I don't know how) to print the whole picture--it keeps cutting off the right side, even when I use the portrait mode & move it as far as I can to the left. The attachment looks like a pretty elaborate set-up. I have a customer for my tractor & blade, but he wants 'em attached. Another e-mailer says a place in West Va. used to sell IHC parts years ago. I'll try to find 'em. Do you have any ideas where I can locate the attaachment arms & parts? Thanks again for the quick response & neat photo.--Jerry

THe answer depends on who made the blade, and the vintage of both. The usual mount is on the track rail in front of the rear track sprocket. My recollection is a large casting with a pivot for the end of the blade push arm, and 3-4 bolts into the rail. If it is a hydro "U" blade it may be more complex. You might try to find illustrations on the net. LoL JimN

Thanks a lot for the information, Jim. IHCarl66 (see the forum) sent me a fine photo showing how the blade is attached to his TD 9, which looks later than mine. I believe that my TD 9 may be in the series built between '42 and '56, but I don't know aboout the blade--I'll look for a mfr's mark on the blade. This looks like a pretty challenging project--I have a customer for tractor & blade, but he wants 'em attached. Thanks again--Jerry

JimN again I remember a company out of Wheeling West Virginia that was the ultimate source for IH yellow tracked used parts. However it was long ago.
LOL JimN

Thanks again, Jim. I'll try to find that outfit in Wheeling. I'll let you know what I find out. This won't be an easy project!--Jerry
