Getting the 300 ready for spring. It is running rough at all rpm's - could this be it needs new points, cap & rotor

check all battery and wire connections and make sure the ground is clean and tight

The last time my 300 did that there was just some condensation inside the distributor cap, and a paper towel made her purr like it was 1955 again!!

I would include a new set of plugs too. If it still runs rough I would do a compression check
and see how close the readings are. Hal

I have found that bad distributor bushings will cause such dwell variation that the engine will miss regardless of what is done with timing or carb settings. Pull the cap and, with your eyes on the four lobe cam, wiggle the rotor left/right, up/down, diagonal both ways. If any loosness is seen, and I mean that you can see play, it is a good candidate for a rebuilt dist. fixing them yourself is a study in machining bushings and building up shafts, not for the faint of machine practices.
