SC hydraulic reservoir fill plug thd ?

Changed the hydraulic oil on my '53 Super C and it looks like the fill plug should not be a pipe plug. The thread in the reservoir looks much finer. Does anyone know what thread should be on the plug (359 875 R1)?

Also, the pick up screen was not soldered all the way around the funnel shaped end. It was loose at the top. Are they all like that ?

Thanks

Greg

boy not sure there is a differance but the thread on my C is 1/2 pipe thread i know this becouse i just put a new one in becouse the square head was rounded off acctually a friend of mine has a super C with a freeman loader on it that needed extra oil capacity so we piped a 1/2 barded fitting in it then to a hose to a tank to give enough fluid to lift the loader

That's what I thought since there was a 1/2" pipe plug in there. But when I went to put in back in, it would not tighten. The threads look to be 20 tpi or finer. The parts book lists several plugs. The pipe plugs it calls out as such i.e. c.i. 3/8" sq. hd pipe plug, etc.

I'm not sure about C and Super C but I do know that Super A uses 2 different plugs - older ones use a pipe thread, later models use a normal thread. Plug is the same one used for crankcase drain plug. I think CIH dealer can get you either.

Thanks a lot. The crankcase drain plug is the same number, I'll try my local dealer in the morning.
