I have taken the pedal off and greased the piviot bolt. I checked every thing but I still cant get it to move . I tried to lever the pedal up and the rod that conects the pedal to the other part bent. I had tried driving the tractor in reverse. I also did whet the IH book said. thats jack up !rear wheel and rock it back and forth untill it pops out. but that did not happen.

Joe, I have a 464 and recently had the same problem. I was told to drive the tractor in reverse to release the lock. This worked for me.
I have had to manually pull the lever up with my hand a few times so I think Michael is correct that it requires lubrication.

Joe, my experience is with a 584 locked. Someone on this forum told me to move the tractor forward slowly and give the right wheel brake pedal a good hard stomp, then do the same to the left, after a couple of tries the differential did release. Also, get under the tractor and trace the linkeage to the transmission housing. I found several points where the linkeage could be lubricated and did so. In checking the tractor over recently I have discovered that my linkeage rod has broken and I will have to get at it and repair the break, again the moving parts need lube of some kind. I hope this helps, good luck...Mike in Exeter Ontario

will it go out if you are rolling with the clutch in or out of gear rolling. do not have to go very fast but let it come out on its own.---- like a you would for a pickup
