I am about to buy my first tractor to restore. I think I have found a good 1961 IH 560 D.

I would like to know if there is any thing to be careful on this kind of tractor and a ballpark on what this would be worth.

The tractor has all the parts including fenders and wieghts, it also has a fast hitch. It seams to run good and the T/A does work. It has some small dents but not bad. Also the tach does not work( would that affect the hour meater?) Needs new paint and 4 tires. Thanks for the help. Nathan

The main problem is head gasket leaks and hard starting on that 282 diesel. Get the tractor good and warmed up and see if you see any bubbles in the radiator or any bubbles or leaks around the head seat area. Are the fenders clam shell or after market flat tops? They really are pretty good old girls and being a 61 is past most of the bigger problems of the earlier ones. Migraine

A good running, fair condition diesel usually brings (at auction) $2000 - $2800 in the condition you describe. Unless they are new or complete shot (& flat) tire condition doesn't seem to affect price as much as it should. Auction prices are for Kansas.

Most generally if the Tach isn't working the hour meter isn't working either.
