I Got It Bad, Farmall Fever

Help me out here. I have been approached by a local who has two Farmall A's. One ran 3 years ago when he parked it. The other is a parts tractor only. The main tractor has a front hydraulicly operated blade that looks very interesting to me. It has been converted to 12 volts also.

He has $1000 in both tractors, and that is all he wants out of them. What do your Farmall experts think?

You"ll find the "A" much easier to work on, and keep running than a lawn mower too.

Farmall As are cheap down South ($500-600) for a running A. Super As bring much much more. You will probably be ok with that price though especially if you want it for yourself and not resell.

Well I ain't no expert but just depends on what you wanna do with them. I you want to restore one for your use, sounds fair to me if the blocks ain't busted. I you wanna re-sell them, you could do ok on parts but you won't make anythang if you restore one completly to sell from my experiance...I would buy them though...would keep me busy...good luck...Dixieland

Hey sky, you can"t go wrong. Look at it this way. You can"t buy a good riding lawn mower for that price, plus you"ll have something when you get done, and the parts tractor will part out that much after you get the other one running. Later, Harley

I would say go for it. I agree, a good lawnmower would cost you more and wouldn't be nearly as much fun. AND tractors don't complain if you don't take them out for months at a time or require more shoes!
I think tractors have a waay of giving you peace of mind while you work on them.
