I have a 12 Delco alternator on my Super M and yesterday it died on me. I noticed the needle on the amp gauge has been dancing around for a while.(to the charge side) This alternator has the 2 prong clip in addition to the Batt terninal. It all is tied into one wire. Is this correct? Regulator die on me? Any diagrams for correct wiring would be hrlpful!! Thanks in advance folks!!!.

Take the Alt. to Autozone and they will test it for you for free. You can buy a rebuilt one from them for about $30

The ammeter needle dancing on the charge side followed by "sudden death" of the charging system could mean the internal regulator has failed. I've had a couple go like that go on me over the past several years. But it could also be caused by worn out brushes or a wiring problem.

Punch below for a wiring diagram...

Look for a wiring diagram by Bob M in archives, it is easy to follow and works well.
