Like magman said, first make sure that the gasket surface is flat, those oil pans often get warped around the bolt holes due to someone overtightening the bolts. Also, make sure that all of the old gasket has been removed, along with the crud that is usually present. Gasket mating surfaces have got to be clean and flat. If all else fails, don't be afraid to use some silicon gasket sealer in addition to the gasket.

Do you have a large flat table like a welding bench or anything maybe you need to make sure she is as true as possible on a flat surface first. Then maybe some spray adgeasive or something might help. MagMan

the pan and flat surface on the block are fine. The only reason the pan was pulled was to clean the sludge out of the bottom of the pan.It wasnt leaking before I pulled the pan,as I stated it leakes in a different place each time.I have used gasket sealer on the first two and on the second one I didnt just to see if tha twas my problem, then went back and appied it on the last gasket I used. Each time the leak developes in a differnt place. My usual parts guy can only get this "asphaul" looking gasket and my dealer gets on from a different place but its the same.(My dealer isnt the best place for parts,so I tend not to use him).If I cant find one precut then Ill make one,out of cork.

I kind of wonder if something might be plugged and building pressure ? or are you letting the sealer dry and seat before you start it? Is the vent plugged? Just a few other things I can think of

Well I guess maybe it could be but..... ..... it has been doing fine up until I pulled the pan.I usually put the sealer on the pan,put on my gasket, put the sealer top of the gasket and bolt it right up.this way the sealer can work into any little creviss that might be there. The let it sit for a couple of hours beforeI run it.I do that on any gasket.I have never had problems with any gasket other than this one,and the dang tranny cover gaskets! No matter how hard I try I mess up something on those so I have gone to just using the heck out of selaer on the tops and forget the gasket!

I bought a sheet of cork material for $4 at the hardware store and made my own. Works good.

I got one of the cork gaskest for my Super C and have no trouble with it. I use a small amount of gasket sealer on them, no leaks. Anyway I'm not real sure were they get there parts from, but there still out there. Andrew
