I'm looking at getting a 560 gasser to replace my H for mowing, raking, baling, light stuff for the time being. The engine and tranny are solid he said, as is the TA. Like new tires, narrow front, Fast Hitch, dual hyd. Tach doesn't work. He is asking $3200 for it, does that sound about right. Next couple years, I'd like to add some more field work, 20-40 acres of corn. How much fuel will this tractor use. Want a diesel, but haven't found one in good enough shape yet. TIA Rich

When I was younger, we had both a diesel and a gas 560 on the farm. Pulling heavy loads (plowing) the diesel would burn about the same amount of fuel, but pull the plow faster since the gasser had the heavy tillage 3rd gear in it and the diesel didn’t. On lighter loads like shelling corn the diesel would use about ˝ the fuel the gasser would use. When it came time to dump one, the gasser went down the road…

My opinion of the 560/460 is that they were way over-rated. Would rather have a good 350/450. What I have run the 460 or 560 I felt they were too long (may be that they just look that way) , the power steering is slower then molases, and a good Super M will give a 560 a good run for its money. We had a 350 and I liked it. Was handy and had enough power for 3 bottom plow most places. We did not hjave power steering though..

well if it is good it is close to being a good price but on the high side 2950 would be good now as far as doing what you want it will get the job done but for baling and mowen i would prefer a wide ft. less wheel tracks and you are not running over the hay while raken now as for tillage work it will do that but it will use gas somewhere between 3 to 5 gal per hour and with that engine it is best to run 93 octain gas and at the price today at the pump 2.32 a gallon but diesel is wright there to and a diesel will use about the same as far as gallons per hour . I ran a 706 late model for years and she was a gasser and now have and 806 diesel can't see much differance they both pulled the same old plow and the same old disc and the both need to go to the fuel tank at about the same time .
