how do you tighten a fan belt

I have a 1940 h and need to tighten the fan belt . whats the trick to doing that? thank you.

Previous post tells you how to do it. However, fan belt does not need to be real tight. Manual calls for 3/4 to 1 inch of slack. That is when you push on belt halfway between the pulleys, it's OK if the belt pushes in as much as an inch.

Hi there is a set screw with a nut on the side of the closet to the fan. this is a split puuley setup. loosen this set screw and hit it with a punch but be careful not to braek the ears on the pulley or the pulley itself. use lots of pb blaster to loosen the rust. work the pulley back and forth to loosen the rust BE CAREFUL is the key here. the front part should spin
