I got this as an e-mail. I think it is blul siht. What do ya"ll think?

I recently received a chain letter (A piece of mail that had been forwarded to me) that had your e-mail address in it along with several other peoples.

I thought that as your mail address was on one of these chain letters (forwards) you may have others that you would be willing to send to me. I know that this might sound like a daft request but I can assure you that this is a serious request. I am involved in a university project that is based over a year and we are analysing Internet mail, we are trying to ascertain trends and patterns to come up with some fairly accurate statistics regarding the type of mail that circulates around the internet, we know that 70% of all mail is spam but what we don’t know is what percentage of that spam accounts for chain mail (forwards of any type, something that has been forwarded to you, a piece of mail that has formed part of a chain).

Please send absolutely anything and everything that remotely resembles chain mail, forwards of any type (even the rude ones). My project is based over a year and I need one million forwards for this project to be a success, so please keep them coming and don’t worry I have some pretty huge mail boxes.

I would be grateful if you would be kind enough to forward this piece of mail to all your friends as I need as much help as I can get.

Please send all chain mail (forwards) to the following address. gmm_brwn_15@yahoo.co.uk

Everyone that helps will receive a copy of our results and findings in January of next year so please help if you can.

Thanks

Gemma

don't reply and don't forward it, people that send junk e-mails start a lot of these chain letters to collect addresses to send out their junk emails to. If just one copy gets back it was worth their time. The instructions to reply to have your name removed are bogus too, if you do they now have a good email address to sell to someone else. My inbox stays empty till people start sending me chain letters then it zips right full. I once counted over 100 addresses in a forwarded email that one of my aunts sent to me. All of them got a reply telling them how i got their email address. Most got mad at me, so a lot of good i may have done, huh?

I received this same e-mail a few months ago and my spam filter didn't recognize it as spam. I felt bad if it really was a student needing a grade, but I felt I needed to protect myself more, so I deleted it. There are too many risky things out there...be safe, delete.

This is the reason you should rarely use the "forward" feature for email. If it's a good item use cut and paste in a new mail. Then if you are sending it to say over three addresses, use the bcc for all except the to line. Don't give out your friends email address carelessly.

I would hope that it is not a poor college kid that really needs this for a grade. I would say that it was someone that wants to send a virus to 1 million people or someone that wants to sell email adresss specialy when it states that you can be removed later. JON

I agree. And sending it to poor college kids is even worse.

Delete and spam-guard the address. Don't reply!
