I need 1 rubber boot for each tie rod end and another 1 for my drag link end to fit my old 364 diesel (3 total). The IH part# 3041 067 R1 is the boot so says my old BT20 IH manual for this tractor. Problem is, that part is no longer available -have to buy the entire tie rod end to get the boot. My tie rod ends are still good just have weather cracked boots. I've looked at NAPA and they have some "universal" style but I would rather get my hands on the OEM ones that will fit properly if I can. Thanks for any help on finding them.

I am in Texas. If he has the part# IH boot I gave to fit my 364 diesel in stock, I sure need them. Can I contact him via email? Thanks for the info.

The boots are available from john deere part number R40589 is a 4020 boot and M648T is a boot for the two cylinder front end. It's a litte smaller than the 4020 boot.

Are these boots just similar or do you know they are like the IH part# boot I need?

Tie rod ends and boots are all jobber provided items so they are probably real close. There is no jd number on the boots to give away the source. I have used the m648t boots on some Massey Harris tie rods and they were a good match.

I understand. I looked on John Deere's parts web page and find both numbers you gave me and they are cheaper than the universal style boots I found at Napa. I bet they will work. At Napa, you simply had to know if the tie rod end "stud" was 1/2", 9/16", 5/8" or 3/4" where it would fit snug around the "stud" end - the other end was simply an open unbrella style. My factory boots have little pieces of wire that secure them to the tie rod end at both places to assure no dirt can get in. I like them better because of this feature but it doesn't look like I'll find them easily.

The JD parts are just the umbrella they don't have the wire clamp.

I see that. They look just like the "universal" style at NAPA but they are cheaper from JD - now that"s pretty amazing. Thanks for your suggestion.

Get the 3M electrical tape called super 33 or super 88 either one.Slowly wrap the cracked boot first puting no or very little "stretch" into the tape.Once the tape makes several more revolutions put a bit of stretch as you wrap but not much.Dont try it with cheap tape.Super 88 wil last longest.

Boots are hard to find sometimes. I used brake cylinder boots on my project. Inexpensive and worked just fine.
