I found a 1586 for sale. No TA, 6800 hrs, cab doors have small rust holes, misc hydraulic leaks, poor interior, I noticed welds on the frame below the ether can, also I noticed coolant drips were hanging from the oil pan, where would they be comming from? Does this tractor only have 3 FWD gears + a high and low range making it have only 6 FWD speeds? How dependable would this tractor be, it won"t get much use. Did the 15"s only come with 1000PTO. How long do these motors last. Tires are ok no duals or weights. Whats a high/low ballpark price? thanks for help

Sounds pretty rough. I"d worry about why the frame was welded on. Coolant drips could be anything from a small leak running down to somthing major like an internal coolant leak. Pull the drain plug after it has been sitting overnight, if there"s coolant in the oil, it will drain first. Yes, it only has 6 forward/3 reverse speeds. That was the worst thing about the 15"s, even with a TA. They only had a 1000 RPM PTO from the factory, but a 540/1000 unit from a smaller 86 can be made to work. The engines are almost bulletproof. An exellent 1586 could still bring $15,000, I"d guess the one you describe would be toward the bottom end, probably around $7000-$8000.
