I read all the stories of the Canteen and I am sure my uncles in Kansas got to go thru there and enjoy their hospitality. Wonderful ladies and men. I can't make the show this year but would like to make it next year if you will be sure and let us all know when the show is next year we can make plans to be there. Are you going to be at the Red Power Roundup in Lebenon, TN thus year, if so I want to look you up to say "HI"?

Cowman, it would be fun to load the C up and head west. We could even dicker on the plow that we talked about. However. I am flying to Fairbanks, Alaska that day to spend a week with my son. He is stationed up there and this is the last summer he will be up there. Looking forward to seeing the "big wilderness". Randy

Nice page! You shouldn't be punching dawgies... you should be making money the easy way - in the richly rewarding, highly-paid realm of web design.

Cowman,
Good looking web site! North Platte - is that the place during WWII where the troop trains made a 5 minute stop and the local folks provided cookies and cakes to the troops?

yup, that's the place, and you talk to any of the older farmers they remember their moms sisters and aunts fixing food for the "boys" chocolate cakes, homemade mayonaise, hardboiled eggs, fried chicken, no refrigeration and food coming in from 75 miles out in the country. I get goosebumps thinking about it. I suppose some of the boys got sick too but no sicker than they had been before and the kindness shown to them by strangers made them forget their homesickness for a little while.
