I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THERE IS ANY TRUTH TO THIS STATEMENT.
"THE TRANSMISSION WAS NOT ANY LOUDER THEN ANY OTHER FARMALL 200, THEY HAVE STRIGHT CUT GEARS AND ARE LOUD FROM DAY ONE."

THANKS,

JACK CARLE

I have a farmall A, Super C and Allis B. And of those two the Super C is quiter than the A by far. My SC has one of the tightest and quietest I'v ever run. My A on the other hand is pretty quite except in reverse, but that is to be expected. The Allis would hve to be the loudest out of the three. Andrew

my 200 is loud in all gears, i thought something was wore, i tore it all down and found nothing, so i put new gaskets/seals and put it back together, yes its loud but has been trouble free for 6 years now. im not sure about the stright cut gears? im happy with mine, its a great tractor....

The C/Super C/200 are a lot quieter than the A/B/Super A. I don't find my C objectionable at all, my Super A is rather loud in certain gears, but that is normal. Each gear (1,2,3,4,R) has it's own particular sound. Unless you hear a noise that occurs only once every revolution, it is probably ok. Or, you could have a bad bearing.

Jack,

Yes, with a reservation. Brand spankin' new, everything fits absolutely perfectly and of course the noise is less.

But, get a little age on 'em and yes, the statement about straight-cut gears is generally true.

Be grateful that the tractor doesn't run at the speed those old Model A Ford car rear-ends did. Now, they did beller when they were new. :>)

Allan
