I love the grill on those old trucks. The tinwork is the real stuff, not that thin stuff they make today. I guess it all depends on which side of the fence you want to convince yourself. If I wanted to restore it then my favorite excuse is, "I guess I could be one of those guys that blows all of his money at the bar". If I didn't want to spend the money then it would be "I've got more tractor parts that I need to buy from Cowman to finish my current project", LOL.

Heck that looks like one great project truck. if all the parts are there for it I would say go do it. I've been looking for a rolling chassie of a 69 Fairlane Cobra fastback myself to restore but can't find much up here in my part of Ontario.

Sure, why not they will never make them like that again. The frame looks alot better than those trucks and cars in south Jersey that Joe Bloggs let us know about.Old things are ever increasing in value and appreciation.Do everything you can yourself.Sending things out is sometimes looking for trouble.Looks good to me.

Nope. Buy one in Hemmings someone else took it in the shorts over. I do love old iron but I like my friends better. You've never been burnt until you've been burnt on a auto restoration... or airplane. It is worth as much right now as it will ever be to you. Now if it was family owned. Forget everything I just said. I'd give anything to have Grandpas truck back.

You're right about the money part. Like the posts here have shown, if you decide to get rid of it there'll be a line of prospective buyers. I always liked the looks of the '66 Chevy Caprices and a few years back picked one up for cheap. It's a nice straight solid car but needed total restoration- all new interior, suspension rebuild, didn't have an engine, etc. I made big plans to fix it up, ordered the repro parts catalogs, etc. Then I looked on ebay and found out I could buy a nice, complete, running, drivable car for about what the interior alone would have cost me. So now mine's going on ebay as soon as I have time to air up the tires and get pics etc. Got too many old tractors I'd like to own now so I kinda got out of old cars. So in other words, whether or not you decide to take the plunge on this pickup is up to you- if you'll enjoy the project and the work involved- I'd say go for it. If you'd just like to have a nice old IH truck you can probably buy a better one for less than you'll invest in this one. But one thing to keep in mind, old cars/trucks ain't like tractors- the resale value on a particularly nice restoration will be much more likely to pay you back on a car or truck.

My old Truck "Sloroll" (52 Chevy delux) runs and I drive it all spring summer and fall. Always someone wanting to fix it up. I'll keep her running but won't restore her. That is a slippery financial path. If you think the tractor police are tough... aint seen nothing. Almost anything cosmeticaly done to a auto makes it go down in value. It may go up in price but at a much lower rate than money invested. You never do it the way they want it. Speeking from way to much experience here.

Cowman, Go ahead and sell it to paul G. in Minnesota if he wants it. Just be sure you take that 454 sleeper out of it and stick the old blue diamond back in before it leaves the yard.

If that is your trailer, it would make a great looking old truck.
