Putting the engine back together

I am rebuilding a B Farmall and am ready to put the engine back together. I have a few questions:

I did not put in new sleeves, but new rings on the pistons. Do I need to hone the sleeves? There are no ridges and they look pretty clean.

Do I use any sealant on the gaskets when I am putting the engine back together? Seems like I rememer my dad using something more for keeping the gasket in place than for sealing.

And finally, as I put the rod and main bearings in and attach the rods back to the crankshaft, do I need to lube the bearings, pistons, cam shaft etc?

Thanks for any help!

The guy at my local machine shop recommended spraying "copper" gasket sealant on the head gasket. I bought some (can't remember the brand name) at the local AutoZone and sprayed a light coat on both sides of the head gasket of my H that I just put back together. It is supposed to fill all the little scratches from screwdrivers, etc., that have marred the head / block over the years.

I would use a glaze breaker in the sleeves using a drill motor. Coat the the glaze breaker with lots of oil, then thoroughly clean the sleeves.
I would use warm soapy water to do this cleaning and then dry each sleeve and coat with engine oil. Clean the crankshaft too and coat with engine oil.

You should use a new paint brush to coat all of the engine parts prior to assembly. That includes bearings, pistons and sleeves. Those seals at the bottom of the sleeves can cause leakage into the crankcase. I would fill that block with water high enough to cover the seals
on the sleeves and check for leaks before assembling the engine. The oil pump should be primed with fresh engine oil too. Hal

I am doing a complete rebuild on my 460, and have purchased some "assembly lube" that the machinest recommended. It's also a good idea to crank with the starter until the oil starts flowing good, before you attempt to start it.

Yes, you need to hone the cylinders, or the new rings will never "break in". Everything needs to be coated with motor oil, stp, or similar while assembling. Otherwise there will be no lubrication during start-up and those new parts will just seize up into one solid mass.
