I am considering purchasing a Saginaw 3-point for my H, and was wonding what kind of lift capacity I would have with a standard belly pump.
Thanks

If you carry an implement that weighs much more than 500 pounds the front end will get light if you are abrupt with the clutch.

I put one on an H about 10-12 years ago. The 3-point hitch is one of the best pieces of aftermarket equipment I have ever invested in. I don't know what kind it is but it has two cylinders and its real heavy duty. Like others have said, you can pick the front end right up trying to lift something heavy on the rear.

Yepper. Got one on my M and if you get under the big bales in the stack in the barn, you can pick the front of it right off the ground. Pretty neat for aftermarket. Just love mine. Harley

Enough to lift the front end off the ground--it will be fine.

How does it work for plowing?

I have had a aftermarket 3-point hitch on my Super H for many years. Mine only has one hydraulic cylinder and it will lift the front wheels off the ground. It takes a little practice to plow with it. I have a two bottom Ford type three point plow and it does a real good job of plowing gardens. The trick is to get started at a consistant depth. I start at the end, lower the plow and allow the cylinder to go in the same amount each time so the depth is the same each round. The only problem is if you have uneven ground as the plow will come out of the ground when the front wheels dip into a low spot or it will go in too deep if the front wheels go over a hump. I also have 3 point 6' rototiller, brush cutting mower, and an 8' tandem disk (too heavy as the front wheels just stay on the ground). Roger

Snow plowing would be fine. Moldboard plowing would be an exercise in frustration. Without draft contol, you could never keep the depth right. It'll go down until the tractor stops, then you raise it just a little and 50 feet later it is skating along the top, barely doing anything. Just my opinion, though.

Not as good as the factory 3-points on later models as it does not have draft control -- but I have never tried it.
