Which style headlights were original equipment on the Super "H"? We keep getting conflicting answers on the subject here in mid Mi. Thanks to all who can answer

I have purchased three SH's in the last three years, 2 53's and a '54. All three have the sealed beam lights. The IH parts manual shows the teardrop style as used on the rear light only.

Don't know about your Super H, but my 53 Super C parts book says the flat lights start with serial # 159455 & up. Jim

I have a "53 Stage I. It has flat headlights. Guy Fay"s Letter Series Originallity Guide lists the flat lights for "53 and up.

Good question: I don't know the answer. Probably Guy Fay does.

I've seen them both ways; we've got a '53 Super H that we are going to put the flat style lights on and not worry about it.

I'll go out on a limb here and say that the flat, sealed beam type didn't come out until 1954? At one time I had a 53 super M and it had the old style tear drop lights, which I am pretty sure were original.

I thought they came out when the Super H/M were introduced, don't know for sure. I have a 1953 Stage 2 Super H with the flat ones. The Stage 1 Super M appeared earlier, thus maybe the early ones did not have them.

I always thought the same way, but with a lot of these things it seems there are always exceptions, and when the tractor has already had several owners, how do you really know what is original? Gut instinct tells me the supers should all have the flat headlights, but??

If I had to vote, I would say that the Super H and M had the flat lights as soon as they came out, I can't prove it, but all the pictures I have seen of supposedly new ones, or properly restored old ones had the flat ones, same with the Super W series.
