Howdy,

The 3 point on my 1066 has a delay in it. When I pull up on the lever, it generally takes a few seconds before anything happens.

I use a rear blade on the tractor a lot, so this is a problem. When I move that lever - I need something to happen right then!

Any idea what might be causing this to happen?

Thanks,
Mitch

Mitch It could be just adjustment of the lever, or I would think the load valve. The older tractors like 460 560 had unload valves, when they failed they would stay on high pressure and make the hydraulics get very hot. Every modle from 706 to at least the first 86's had a load valve so if they failed they didnot high pressure and get hot. You can get at it from in front of and below the seat suport if the o ring on the piston or if the pall and seat is warn it could act as you say if they get real bad the hitch will not lift at all. A good check is to hold one of the remote levers on demand first theen pull the hitch lever if it moves right away that would act right for a load valve problem.

You know, I haven't thought to look and see if the lever might be slipping. And this one still has all the sheet metal on it too. Ain't no tellin what I might find under there.

Filter's been changed twice since I got her in '03 - after it had set up for a couple years.

I need to change it again just to see what it looks like - and to replace the o-ring.

Thanks,
Mitch

Hi Ya Mitch,

That is what I was thinkin' but didn't wanna jump in here.

Maybe that clutch is just slipping on the shaft handle? Especially if it sat for a long while and now you are using the hitch alot. It's worth a check. All it takes is a little 7/16" wrench to find out. :>)

Afternoon Allan,

I think that's where I'll start lookin'. I find little things all the time that have been flopping for years, that takes just a little time to tighten up and get to working like new again. I'm hoping this is one of them.

It could be a couple of things, Here we go again i sound like a broken record but get it flowrated and see what the pump is doing and change the filter could be a unloader valve getting slugish or low flow a sticking relief. But first ya need to see what the pump is doing.

This tractor set up for a couple years before I got it. Hitch is stout enough to raise the front end and has been holding up a load after the engine is shut off for 10 or 15 minutes with out leaking down. This one hasn't got the old "jerk - I'm awake!" symptom that my other one had either.

Everything seems to work fine except the delay in the lever.

I've got a neighbor that can test it in the feild I think. I may get him to stop by one evening and check that pump out.

Thanks TV,
Mitch

Been hammering drawing out this cornputer like a madman! What little internettin I've done has been getting up and running on the new Toy Talk site. They went to a "RedPower" type of format and I didn't want to get left out of the loop, so I bowed up and got acquainted.

Hadn't even far'd up the Farmall 'til yesterday. Finally got the new(er) fenders mounted up and did a little driveway maintenance.

Just enough to make my want some more!

Sure will. We may be able to add a cab to one cheaper than buying an original. I'll check into it.
