I RECENTLY BOUGHT A 1947? IH TRACTOR WITH NO MARKINGS. IT IS A WIDE FRONT AND WAGNER LOADER WITH 24 X 18.5 REAR TIRES. THE SERIAL NUMBER IS 2331 WZ or W2? I NEED HELP IDENTIFYING SO I CAN GET A MANUAL AND FINISH SOME REPAIRS. ANY SUGGESTIONS TO HELP ME IDENTIFY THE OLD GIRL WILL BE APPRECIATED.
THANKS, RICH

What makes you think it is a 1947. The 24" rear tires (not 18.5) make it sound like a International I-4, McCormick Deering W-4, International I-6, or McCormick Deering W-6. Any of these models with a 2331 serial number would be a 1941 model. Look at the pictures to find a tractor that looks like yours and look for the prefix on the serial number plate.

When looking at the pictures also look at the 300/330/350 Utility pictures. That may be what you have. If a International 300 U it is 1955, if a International 330 U it is 1958, or if it is a International 350 U it is a 1957. Just a few possabilities.

Harold: The suggestion of 300U, etc. seems most realistic. The only IH tractors to use Wagner loaders in great numbers.

Hugh,

I agree with that. 300 is most likely. IHC would supply either the Wagner or the Pippin loader on the 300 Utility. Never seen one on a 330 but think they were still offered with 350. Very doubtful one would be on a 4 or 6 but you never know, as he was thinking 1947 model.

But were they using the suffix codes on those as well? W2 would be a modified engine.

No such suffix as W2. W12 means pneumatic tires, that rules out the 300/350 as that's the way they all came. W with no other letter is forward and reverse drive. WZ is forward and reverse drive with a 17 gpm hyd pump, which may be possible on a 300/350U, don't know, it is possible on a 460U but not on a W or I series. The tire size sounds like it could be one of the industrial loboys (not a Cub) but a 2404 or something.

I WAS TOLD BY THE ORIGINAL OWNERS SON THAT IT IS A 1947, BUT HE IS GOING OFF MEMORY? THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP, I"LL LOOK AT SOME PHOTOS TO TRY TO NARROW THE OPTIONS. ALSO UNDER THE SEAT AND ON SHELF IN FRONT OF THE RADIATOR THERE IS A NUMBER IN THE CASTING (#367051 R1) IF THIS MEANS ANYTHING?

That is a part number and I don't have a parts book. However that rules out the 1941 models as those type numbers were not used untill the 50's. 90% sure guessing on the International 300 Utility.
