My dad and I have recently came into the onwership of an antique Farmall and have been told by one person that it was a Super AV and by another that it was a Super A.I was hoping someone on this site would be able to tell me the year and model that this tractor really is. I would greatly appriciate any help you guys could give us. Serial No. 262802

Midian: John is right except rear wheels on a regular SA will be 8x24, not 26 or 28. To pick out the I model, these have a square front axle with a round brace running to the clutch housing. Again the regular SA has a round front axle.

And buy the way it is a Super A, all tractors before 250,000 were A, B, or BN, and after 250,000 they were all Super A. If you check serial numbers at left of this page you will see it is 1948 model.

Jim: Now that you mention it I do remember that. Good that you checked me up. I don't see a lot of SAV or even AV where I'm at. Run into them ocasionally at shows.

The Super AV also has a square front axle with a round brace running to the clutch housing, but on taller spindles. That is probably the source of the original confusion in this case.

No way to tell by the serial number, they were part of the same sequence. Super AV had 19 inch front tires and 36 inch rear tires, but the Super A had smaller ones, I believe they were 15 inch front and 26 or 28 inch rear.
