Folks,
Anyone know a good way to remove the waterpump packing nut in a "51 M?? I"ve tried tapping it with a blunted punch but that method only seems to damage the nut. Is there some sort of spanner wrench available?

Look for what is called a Spanner Wrench. Made for that type of nut.

a big pipe wrench works if you have the radiator out of the way. Yes, there was a special wrench but nobody has one. They were all lost years ago and anyway I don't know if the handle was long enough to loosen the nut after all these years.

Don't know about the M the H has a 7/8, a stubby wrench will work, just takes a little time -- take the driver off first, it will be easier.
