Can anyone explain why U shaped peices of rebar are commonly welded to many fast hitches. I've seen them on several tractors but i can't tell what purpose they serve.

They were supplied that way from the factory on the 350, 460, 560 etc. I remember them brand new like that. Without that step they would be real miserable to get on and off.

Hi George,

Yeah, especially if your boots were wet and slippery from working in the green stuff.

Skinned up more than one shin hauling manure! :>)

I always used it as a step for when no drawbar or implement were in the two-point.

Pretty sure they came from IH that way, also. If memory serves ,it was on the left hand socket on the tractors you had to get on from the back (230,460,560). Super C and 200 don`t have it though-maybe started with the 350,450 series with traction control Fast Hitch.Mark

I've noticed that too.I dont know wether that acts as a guide or gives somebody something to grab onto.I do know that my Fast Hitch has not been "molested" like that.Of course they didnt buy it originally with hitching in mind.It just happened to be on the dealers lot with the F H.
