Which IHC group tractor was the one that you started on pretrol (gasoline) and then switched over to diesel once it was up to temperature?

The tractor had carb, plugs, mag etc on one side of the engine & injectors, pump etc on the other.

Thanks for any help.

Andrew

All of them, from the WD40 to the 450 Diesel which is the mid '30's to the mid '50's.

Exeptions being the 350 diesel (which wasn't an IH engine, it was a Continental) and the British built BMD's which were direct start.

First IH direct start diesel was the 460/560, as far as I know.

Actually Dave that list would also include the 600 and 650 Diesel, which were the "newer" versions of the WD-9 and SWD-9 series.

All Diesel engines at least from 1939 through 1957 and all the crawlers, loaders, motor graders, etc. of that era.

If I am not mistaken, the exception would be the Farmall 350 diesel. It was a direct start.

Hi Andy,

Don't ya just love the sound of those old heifers when ya throw the shuttle levers?

Pure IH music!

Allan

Oh yeah!

My first IH diesel was a TD-14A. It was literally a blast to switch over to diesel.

After a couple of M's, I got a TD-18. Those six big jugs blowing black smoke when they take off are really great.

Teh 18 is gone, so I'm enjoying the 450 now. I need a rear rim so I haven't had a chance to work it yet. Looks like I may just stick a wheel off an M on it ot get going.
