I bought a 1948 Cub last week. Engine sounds good, however there is an oil leak where the magneto mounts to the engine block. The magneto mounting bolts are tight so is it likely that there is a problem with a gasket?

Becareful not to tighten the mag bolts too tight in an effort to stop the leak, the tabs have a tendacy to break off.

And ahead of that gasket is a seal... a fairly large one. The seal could be the source of the leak... it has to leak for the oil to get to the gasket.
