May have opportunity to purchase a JD 3020 with 148 front end loader and 36 blade pick-up disk in good condition blades fair. Tractor runs good and is in ok shape paint faded some and little rust on the rims. What are some things to watch out for on this model and what is fair amount to offer for tractor and equipment. Thanks...

if it's a diesel, you are probably talking $7500 and up. I have extensive time on a 4020 with powershift and a 3020 with the "manual" transmission. No real problems with either, but my employer maintained them, I didn't have to work on them. 3020 is a good tractor.

I don’t know a lot about green tractors, but if it has a power-shift transmission, check to make sure it shifts solidly. If it has a syncro-range, you should check out the synchronizers to make sure that they are working properly. Seems to me that the 3020 gas could be a heavy drinker, but the diesel was pretty easy on fuel. Other than the normal stuff like drawbar wear, three point wear, tires, etc I don’t know of anything else.

If you haven’t already, you might want to post this question on the John Deere board, they might have more knowledge about green tractors than we do over here.

make sure the frame bolts are in good shape i have seen lots of them get loose and can even damage the engine block when not caught in time. the loaders can stress the frame when abused
