I have made a Spin-on oil filter adapter for my farmall A but am concerned about the amount of oil I allow to pass through the filter since it by-passes the bearings and just returns to the crankcase. The original is restricted with a tiny passage hole abount 1/16". Too large would reduce the oil pressure for the oil going to the bearings... any suggestions or sources for this information?

Why not just buy the conversion kit ( part # 538828R91..base & 538836R1...filter) from IH?? It has the proper flow rate that has been tested by IH Engineering (the same folks that designed the tractor)so you know it will work right.....

for bermudaken... Reference 'Just buy one...', I am retired, have a metal lathe, mill, etc. and love playing on them. So I make stuff. I have set the bypass bleed hole to 40 thousands over the stock, It seems to be holding the same pressure now. Oh yeh, I have lots of scrap steel and aluminum so the cost was zero plus 3.45 for a spin-on filter.
Thanks for you comments.
