I've been searching for 30+ mins and cant find the exact part # for a 6V coil for a Cub. Will any 6V coil from Napa,Autozone,etc.. do? Does anyone have an exact part #? Also what about the points and condensor? Any part #'s from Autozone?

Oh, couple things. Steve was correct. It is an Echlin and an IC-7. This is for an external mount coil.

Noooow, then ifn you want to get the real deal.... as MagMan who is a regular contibutor to this here forum. He rebuilds the J-4 Magneto and has access to the real McCoy.

I am assuming that your Cub comes equipped with a Magneto. If it doesn't, and is equipped with the Battery Ignition, then the coil is an external coil that mounts above the distributor. The IC-7 should be compatible.

The Cub is equiped with a point distributor and not a magneto. I called Napa and got a price of $43 for a 6V coil. The IH dealer says $23 for a coil (no brainer there). I might try some other parts stores just to check prices, but I'll probably get it from the dealer most likely.

If you go to the Cub Manual Server at the link below, then to the Parts Manuals and then to any of the TC-37 series manuals, you will find the correct part numbers for the coil, condenser and the points.

However, as some of the lads have said, just about any old coil will work. I bought mine at NAPA. Just ask the counterman for a 6v coil for a Cub. I think the Model is a C-12, but it has been a while and I no longer have the box on my desk.

If you want original appearance, I think OEM is offering brand new coils that look just like the originals.

Any coil will do, even a 12v with external resistor.

But if you have the IH coil with the terminals on opposite ends, your replacement will be larger and not fit real well unless you buy the new aftermarket to match the original IH.

6 volt IH coil part #353874R91. I don't see why anybody's 6 volt coil wouldn't do the trick.
