i know that farmall has been red for nearly forever(i remember almost that long) but i also know that farmall used a gray paint in the very early days. does anyone out there have the color code for that gray paint?, what brand it is? etc.

I have a problem with a colour of my Farmall, since I know that it should be red, but I would like it to be green. But, at the same time I want it to be just as the originals were, that is why I'm looking for anyone who knows more about Farmall's paint. What other colours were used to paint it?

A few weeks ago there was a discussion on the forum about the IH gray. Supposedly there were two gallons of orginal IH gray found in a garage left over from new old stock. They had it analyzed and mixed. You can go to mccormick-deering.com and they are going to start selling it.

I think it is PPG # 30010. The IH paint # was 110. You can check the Paint Committee Decisions at the Wisconsin Historical Society at this url:

Hope this helps

If you go to Wal-mart and buy a gallon of Rustoleum gloss black and add 1/3 to 1/2 cup of white you will come real close for about $20 a gallon.
