Beautiful Day on the Farm

My oldest son and I spent the day cleaning the corral and hauling manure. It was a beautiful day in Colorado today and it was even nicer exercising the Farmalls. I cleaned with my 400 with the Dual loader on it and my son spread with my 200 and McCormick-Deering 100 manure spreader, it was a lot of fun. He sure got a lot of trips to and from the field with that little spreader. Might have to look into a bigger spreader, one that takes more than 2 bucket fulls to fill. The day ended up with one of our hiefers giving birth to a healthy little calf. Definately looking forward to getting back to it tomorrow.

Hi Ernie,

I was telling the wife just a few days ago, that I bet the boys down in Colorado are in the fields already.

Some years, I've seen 'em discing stalks as early as the 12th of February down there. But, you guys are 20 to 30 days ahead of us up here in the north. Summer is no doubt, right around the corner, tho.

Who would have thought it just a few years ago, that you are hauling manure and I'm envying you to no end. Time sure has a way of changing a guy's outlook on the world! Full steam ahead and be careful! :>)

For the day that I had today that sounds a lot more productive than mine. I've been working on putting an Allied loader on a 7220 Magnum, figued I would get done today, and low and behold the loader didn't fit on the mounting brakets. After messing around trying to get it to work we found that the brakets don't measure up to the specs that Allied faxed us. That put us on hold till somebody comes down to check this out. Then the boss told me to bring in a 1066 IH with no steering, brakes, hyd's, etc. Bring it in and checked the clutch and saw that the rivets broke off for the splined hub on the pressure plate(not a problem just an easy clutch job). After dehooding it I was going to check the radiator for leaks before I drain it and I poured in about 4 gallons of water to top it off to pressurize the system. That seemed strange so I checked the engine oil and sure enough thats were all the anti-freeze went. Told the boss and that pretty well ended my day at work. Glad it was Friday.
