Nice car! These were a few years before my time, but i've heard they were a super car. I've also heard that in the winter the heater just wouldn't keep up and you'd have to sometimes drive with one hand and have the other hand out the window scraping the windshield. (so my mom says anyhow lol)

Yea,you sure dont want to run one in blustery weather. They tend to throw heat in the summer too. So,cold in the winter and hot in the summer.Thats one reason why they offered gasoline heaters to supplement the hot air/fan system.

nice car, and those run forever there not too hard to work on once you get used to their thinking, did you see "full throttle" the other nite? they took 2 '67's and put scat built motors in them one team lost because they couldn't drive the thing, but the other team was turning 14 second quarters with their vw and pulling the front wheels comming off the line, not bad for a car designed for thrifty operation and reliability, ericlb

Those black stripes down the side sure do make it a screamer too, don"t they? In the days of the muscle cars, what else was VW to do? Actually, it was just the kind of car that parents wanted their teenagers to be driving.
