Hey All,

Rusty from OH posted this one. Same set of circumstances finally convinced me of the merits of fluid and cross-linked chains. :>)

Believe it or not, I have been plowing all winter with my H with old worn tires and no chains. Now I won't contend that this is the best set up, but if you think ahead and plan your moves, you can get by. Mind you, next year there is no way I'll be tacklin the white stuff without a good set of crosslinked chains.

But ya gotta hand it to the old girl for gettin er done, huh?

Hi Brian,

Heck yeah, I farmed for years with those Hs and Ms, pushed snow all winter long and never thought a thing about it.

Moved up here in the hills and all the rules have changed on me. Bummmer! :>)

That photo sure stirs up some memories! Believe it or not, we USED to get some decent snowfalls in Central Ohio, like back in the 1960s.

At first, we did not live on our farm, so we had to drive to it, say about 3 miles, and get the chores done morning and night. If the lane was snowed in, Dad and I would park on the road and trundle in to the barn and fire up the H. We would then use the H to wallow out the lane by just driving up and down it a few times so that we could get the truck to the barn. This was a must as we had no well on the farm yet, and we had to truck water in to the livestock.

Some of my first seat time on our H was packing down the snow. I was fascninated at how well the Old Girl would walk thru deep snow.

A small car with a coffee can full of cinders under tires can pull more than most tractors with out chains on snow or ice.

Yep, some people never learn . A farn tractor is not a bulldozes and they can even get stuck in snow . My S/H has chains fluid and 5 sets of weights on the wheels plus brackets on the drawbar fot suitecase weights 12 of them and beleive it or not had her diggen for all it was worthe to get out of deep snow. And i have even high centered a 550 Deere dozer in deep snow not bad but just enough that we had to put the pick up on her to get it to move , NOTE TO SELF DON"T DO THAT AGAIN.

Looks mighty purdy to me, beautiful tractor in pure white show. If we ever get that much snow again I might do the same just for the photo. Provided the A looks that good when I'm finished with her.
Allan keep the picture comming!

Uh, don't be in too big a hurry to play with your A in the snow. Look what happened to me when my daughters came to visit and we decided to take the old farmalls for a stroll in the field. The H made it through, the Super C did, and the Super A, well, we had a real ball getting this guy outta here! The girls learned all about driving tractors, getting stuck, and hooking up a chain to get towed out! All in all, a fine day!

Boy Robbie you must have found a soft spot or was it a bit of ice to get stuck. Didn't think the snow was that deep up there.
