Dont know why I like these old boats. I had a 77 Buick regal T top that was in this kind of shape. That was until I let my brother in law drive it. Grrrrr!!!!
I loved that car.
Too bad I got so much in old iron I might have bit on this photo ad.

I'm with you, there's just something about 60's and 70's cars and trucks. I'm another 43 year old codger, I guess. My teenagers think there's just nothing better than a "mini cooper". Everytime they point one out, I tell them it looks just like a 1968 Citroen and they give me "the look". Oh well..... .

Awesome. 26 gallon tank @ 10 mpg. That I believe is a '75. Mine was 4 door, glacier blue, and I found a set of Buick wheels to put on. Drove it out to Colorado from Iowa, and took it to the top of Pike's Peak. Coming back down was the hard part. Rode like an absolute dream. Completely gutless for the gas it took to run it. Wife is 4'10", and had some issues with the car, so we replaced it with a little '90 Park Avenue several years ago. Had a '69 Wildcat with the 430 that would run circles around the 455 on a lot less gas.

Kelly: Hard to believe there is still one around in that good shape. They were a nice car but man did GM have a quality problem. I bought a new Delta 88 in 74 and by 1978 you could not drive on gravel roads. The passenger compartment would just simply fill with dust. Mine had the 455 with 4 barrel carb, had a British immigrant neighbor, was always poking fun at my BIG AMERICAN CAR. He bought a Chevelle Malibou with 305 with 2 barrels. He was very annoyed to discover I actually got 3 more mpg than he did. Kind of put and end to the BIG AMERICAN CAR jokes.

They still weren't a bad buy, we bought them very cheap. The 455 required very little tune up, they just ran and ran. By 79 they had doubled in price and were a smaller and lighter car. Drove mine on scales once 5,180 lbs.

I am not that old, Just 43. I did have a whole lot of my life where I could only scrounge up enough momey to buy cars from the 70's. :-)
The closest I came to a new car was when I spent my Miltary inlistment bonus on a Dodge Monico. Only 3 years OLD!!! See that story below.
SHould have bought the 64 Chevy 3/4 ton instead. Still kicking my self for that one. Mom said I should get a newer car so it would be reliable. BARF!!!

Saw one like that with big diameter wheels and those little height sidewall tires.I think it was a suckermobile.Thats what they call them when they blow off the little hondas for money.Probably using some Chevrolet big block or the Buick motor built to the hilt.

Oh yea I feel ya. I like most of the boats.
Except the Mopar boats. They had some real quality problems in those days.
Although I did have a 73 Newport once. Could fit every thing I owned in the trunk. And I did a few times.

Why do you not like the Mopars? I have a 77 Newport in the garage. It didn't run for 5 years. I put a battery in it, dumped some gas down the carb. and it fired right up. I work harder starting my @#$%^& GM pickup when it sits over night.

The Newport was not a bad car. I had it for 3 years. Had to do a oil pump, but that was cake on that car it was external.
The morpar I had a problem with in 1980 was a 77 Monico. A real POS it was in the shop the whole time we had it. Nothing worked right on that thing even the doors didnt close right. The windows didnt work, Would just conk out with no reason or warning and would not start till it had a trip to the dealer. Trunk lock opened but would not latch. ARG!!! 24 years and I am still mad about that.
They have made strides from those days. Have 2003 Caravan and love it.

Kelly, I know what you mean. I bought a new 1963 Pontiac Grand Prix, drove it 6000 miles and traded it off on a 1963 Jeep Wagoneer. Best deal I ever made. Could afford to by the Pontiac but couldn't afford the 10mpg. The Wagoneer got 18-20mpg and little or no maintence. Love the old stuff.

I had a 73 Electra same color as the one in the photo. It was a good car until a teenage girl couldn't make the curve in her little charger. I saw her coming and got clear over in the fence row but she got me anyway. Knocked all the plastic grill & glass out of the Charger. Funny thing was she drove the little Dodge on to school that morning, and I had to cut the fan belt to get the Buick 1/4 mile down the road to my mothers house. Her insurance company fixed my Buick, but it never was any good after that.
