After using a magnetic block heater, and not being
impressed,I want to put on a (1000W) tank heater.
I am wondering what the best and simplest way to plumb it in would be ? Thanks for the help.

did that same thing to my 400 6 years ago. takes an hour to heat the head and it wont even take a half a crank and she's going. if there is a flow sticker on the heater--the flow should go out the block and then to the head...

MTK,

Dave's got it.

Just run the bottom hose of the heater from a nipple at the block drain and then the top hose of the heater back to a tee at that sender plug. She'll work just great.

I put one on my H at the beginning of this winter. I put a nipple in the block drain plug hole on the clutch side and a tee on the opening for the temp sender (brake side). Temp sender goes in one side of the tee. Ran the inlet hose from the drain opening and the outlet hose around the back of the engine, through a fabricated bracket to keep the hose away from the head, to the other side of the tee. Mounted the tank heater on a brace sticking up from the frame rail behind the carb. Works great.
