Since changing my 300U to a spin on oil filter (from CNH),there has been a constant oil seepage under the aluminum adapter cup.The tiny, flimsy rubber ring they use to seal that cup down to the former cartridge sealing surface is woefully insufficient. When I first saw it,and its lack of flexibility and teeny dimensions,I knew it would be a problem.CNH/C-IH needs to look into that and improve (possibly go to a silicone ring?)the product. It costs enough.

Hi Paul!

I'm interested in why you changed to a spin on filter. Do you think it filters better than the cartridge type?

Sure is a lot less messy to change, and if its easier to change, you're more likely to change it more often.Besides,I consider cartridge filters antiquated...even though Mercedes and VW still uses that system.
And,while I have converted to electronic ignition, modern spin on filtering seems a good companion move. Now if it could just have fuel injection.....
