Thanks for all your help,I just got it running and have good oil presure, priming the pump by removing the allen screw at the back left side of the engine block did the trick.

There seems to be a problem with these Cub engines losing their oil pressure when the crankcase is drained.

There were two other postings in addition
to your tractor losing oil pressure. The way that oil pump is installed on the engine may cause that problem. I've never ran across an engine that loses it oil pressure when changing
oil after all these years. I'm going to make a note in my IH manual for future reference. Good Luck, Hal

The wya I reprimed my CUb was through the oil filter since I could not get my prime plug out.Take off the oil filter cap and remove the filter.Pour in tewo quarts of oil.Take off the coil wire, pour the oil inside the oil filter stud hole and hit the starter,do this a few times and itll prime up and then fill to full.

The oil pressure relief valve may popped open for for some unknown reason letting the oil bypass.
They say it's located just below the base for the mag or distributor. Heavy gummy deposits from the oil could have cause this.

It happened on one of my former co-workers car.
He only ran the car short distances and we think
that caused it. He was lucky when the red lite came on he was in his driveway and we pushed the car into his garage and dropped the oil pan the next day. Put a new oil pump on it even though the old pump was ok after soaking in parts cleaner. Hal

On the left side of the engine at the rear, there is an Allen head plug in the edge of the rear flange behind (under) the hydraulic lines. This is just in front of the clutch housing. The Allen wrench probably will need to be inserted between the lines to engage the plug. Remove the plug, squirt the hole full of engine oil, replace the plug and crank.

Bus Driver, You are right about the allen plug. My manual states that the plug on the left rear of the engine is for priming the oil pump. Roger

There was a post awhile back about something like this and one of the cub guys told them how to reprime the pump by the oil filter or something wait for a reply or go to the cub board like ElToro said. JON

I would shoot some oil into the oil gallery with a squirt can. If you can find a pressure vessel
similar to a brake bleeder ball you can force oil throughout the engine by hooking into oil gallery probably at the oil gauge. I wouldn't run this engine until you circulate some oil into the engine and only run it for a few seconds to see you get oil pressure. I think you have to split the tractor to get at the pump. You should put a posting on the Cub Forum to see if anyone has had this problem and how they solved it. Good Luck, Hal
