Boys, I have a 574 with the lower exhaust, out the right side, down under the tractor and out the back. I want to change it to vertical. My manifold discharges down, back by the driver, on the under side. I see some diferent styles in the manual but none show the style manifold I have with the rear bottom discharge. I also do not want to cut the hood. What if I cut the exhaust pipe and bang a U and come straight up outside the hood with the muffler and extension pipe and cap. Would that be long enough not to damage any valves when shut off while cooling down or long enough not to sound stock car.

John, I have a 385 that i did just that to. used the old muffler and tail pipe for a stack. Not to quiet but does get the exhaust away from the seat and your nose. Can take a picture and email it if you want.

Bruce,

That would be great. I want to do this beacuse I have a bit of blow by, she can smoke, and I run a log slitter and also when hooking up a bush hog, I get choked out bad. Plus, I always am waiting for the hay to catch fire when raking with it. Thanks in advance. Mine is diesel.
