What was the brand of spark plug IH used from the factory on their tractors during the 50s? My guess would be AC as they used Delco Remy (GM) everything else(starter, generator, coil),so they probably used them for plugs too.Champion was sorta generic,so they would be a possibility too...maybe...??

In the parts catalog IH showed Champion,AC and Auto-Lite as dealer available replacements.I would imagine there is a possibility that IH factory used all 3 brands.

Paul - IHC factories used whatever brand that offered lowest cost. It's like it is with tires on new cars - they're delivered with whatever brand offers the best price and/or has the right size in stock this week.

Incidentally I've seen old spark plugs with the IHC brand on the porcelain. Probably they were subcontracted to Champion or whoever, and are simply a standard cataloged plug disguised with an IHC logo and part number.

When I was just a little guy and the tractors on the farm were a fairly new H and M, I remember digging through the stuff in the shop and finding lots of prestolite plugs. I can only assume they came out of the Farmalls.

Having owned and worked on many IH trucks and tractors over my lifetime, my guess is that they used whatever was cheapest and/or available that month.
