Splitting 1800hr Case380B (CaseIH485 industrial) for engine clutch soon. Figure while it"s split to replace bad park brake band. Since I"m that far, what about fwd/rev clutch pack? Ain"t broke, don"t fix it... or whish I"d done that when she was split last year? Is there a service reccomendation on this?
Anything else that should get special attention?
Thanks, Mac

Hi Mac,The FnR clutch pack will be removed when you split the tractor for a clutch repair. It have a cover under the transmission with a plug for checking pressure to the clutch pack. That cover have a thin plate and gaskets You have to remove that cover to remove the clutch pack.I have seen once a bad gasket or O ring that cause a lost of pressure and cause clutch slipping on FnR. The FnR is option like TA and it work at same pressure then the PTO. For the brake band, you have to remove the fenders and floor, remove the hitch cover and the band is there. You have to remove the PTO clutch pack to replace the band. If have more question, ask me. Bernard le mécano Québec Canada

Thanks Bernard,
I do have another question regarding engine clutch.
This tractor doesn't have a 6 pad disc like the 485. It is a full disc like a car and the 485 parts book doesn't show it. Do you have any info on '86, model" Case380B-485" engine clutch? Sorry, but I can't find a specific part or service book for my tractor, only 485.

Hi Mac, i have worked for a farm machinery dealer for 11 years and i do some repair in my shop for farmer near me. Many Ih and Case industrial tractor have same basic frame and engine then farm tractor, often the farm dealer can't order industrial parts and when the farm tractor part is the same, we place that part on the machinery. I will check with my dealer for a clutch and pressure plate number for the 380B and send you a reply
