Thanks for the great info I received from this board. The promptness was impressive! I am a Ford N hobbyist and have always been proud of the quick, accurate info we provide on our board. You guys are just as good! Gotta get back to my "bankrupt" CA 4 acres now ...thanks again!

If I had the choice,I would vote for either the Ford or a 300/350U.But,I'm pretty sure I would take the Ute over the N.Bigger, heavier, more powerful engine, and beefier overall.Features exclusive to IH as well (Fast Hitch/Hydra Touch/TA)would make it a sure deal. Other than the horrid steering, once you run a Ute,you'll never want to let it go.

One of those Better Ideas...(Just not neccessarily from Ford).

I've had an old N for a number of years and it has served me well, I recently picked up a 300U and I'm really happy with it but for the steering. I'm using the 300U for most work around my place now, the fast hitch is just that- fast.

The old N is now working mostly as a wheelbarrow with a home made rear bucket carting stuff around.

So you bought the 350U? I think you'll be pretty happy with it. It's substantially heavier and more powerful than the 8N, and the downpressure on the fast-hitch and the independent PTO are nice to have. Hope it does all you need it to do.

Where in Northern California are you located? I'm 3 hours north of SF. Greg

Greg ...I'm just 38 miles E of Sacramento. I live in Shingle Springs(just below Placerville). I am an industrial electrician (IBEW 340) and travel all over CA ...as well as ALL the western states. Even worked in N Dakota a few years ago. The up side is I get to see (and buy) many tractors! Talking to the farming families is always an enjoyable experience for me. Where do you live (and do you want to buy a tractor?)!
