I have PPG numbers for two IH reds. One is an old red (70019), the other is a new red (71310). When was the break in colors? I haven't compared the colors yet, just curious as to what models IH would have used the old red color.

The change from IH 50(70019) to IH 1102B occurred sometime in 1949, I believe that there was a color that replaced 1102B also. 2150 (71310) replaced 1102B in the late 50's. However, far as I know there are only two choices at present: IH 50/PPG 70019 for tractors made until sometime in 1949, and 2150/PPG 71310 for post 1949 tractors. I do not believe anyone mixes 1102B, I can be corrected. I have had problems with the local dealer in that the 71310 appears to be too orange, not sure. Correct mixing is critical to get the right color. DuPont equivalents for 50/2150 are 7410/96766.

Thanks for the info. I"ve had good luck with 71310 when we did our Hydro 186. It looks great. Being in the tractor resto biz, information like this is valueable. Are there any PPG codes for the cub cadet yellows and off-whites out there?

Here is a link to a site I've found with PPG paint codes to most farm equipment brand colors. I don't know for sure if they are all right but I've used a few of them and they were good.

I've been using the Omni system for years now, learning of it by a local body and fender shop down the road from here. The system is economical and the paint hold up very well. I can't say the 71310 has an orange tint to it, however the off white I used for the cab on the 186 may be a shade to "creamy". I can give you the tinting guide for the 71310 if you want, let me know if it would help.
