IH made an down exaust that could be used on an M but that ain't it. The factory one came forward and then down and out by the radiator. It was wraped with asbestos for a heat shield.

Maybe because they wanted an underslug exhaust,but couldnt route it to the rear because of linkages/things hanging down,and they didnt want to hamper ground clearance,so the only choice left was forward.
Hopefully they dont think they get a "Ram Air" effect....
