When removing the shifter from a 300U,do you place it in Neutral, and then unbolt/pull straight out? Will it be rather difficult to reinstall? Thinking ahead again....I have a used shifter assy, and I plan on changing it if the original one is worn down.

Paul: It will be a lot easier to reinstall if you start with tractor in neutral. When you set back in place and all rails are lined up in neutral, very easy to find the neutral position. If it is same as Farmall just set the base back loosely put in the three bolts, hold down on base and you should be able to shift through all gears, before you tighten it down.
