Looking at a tractor of a different color today in north central Illinois and next to it was an F20 and an F12 with a single front wheel. Both tractors where on rubber and where in original condition and looked good for their age, neither ran and both had an enclosed steering box. I could buy both for half of the money what the green one would cost. What do these tractors usually bring at auction and how much money does it take to get them running and/or restore one of these? Thank you for your help.

Hello KW,

I'm also from Central Illinois. Several years ago I wanted to have an F-20 like we had on the farm when I was a kid. I ended up buying three of them to get one.

The tractor in the center of this picture is the one I've kept. It has electric start. The width of the tractor with 28" rubber was around 100" and really hard to haul.

The tractor on the right is a '36 Narrow Tread. Electric start, lights, generator, Pto extension. I put new tires all around and replace the rear rims. I took the fenders off of this tractor and put on the one I kept. Sold it at the Farm Progress Show in '03 for $3,500 and had $4,000 in it!

The tractor on the left is a '37. I took the tires and wheels off and traded with the '37 in the center that I've kept. Sold it about a year ago for $1,200 and had about $1,700 in it!

Just a side note. I do not have the talent to work on these tractors, so my costs are higher since I must pay someone else to make repairs, etc.

The big question is are the motors stuck? If they are stuck then the F-20 could be real expensive to rebuild. They don't make parts for them and a custom engine rebuild kit is around 1,200 to 1,400 dollars. I've already got around 2,500 in my engine rebuild already. If the F-20 is stuck I think a price of 200 to 300 dollars would be fair. The F-12 in my opinion would be the better buy. Engine kits are still sold for them and they are easy to trailer. You can get a complete engine kit for under 500 dollars. I would think the F-12 would go for 600 to 1000 to the right person. I live in the area and if you would like me to take a look at them for you send me an email. It's really hard to give number values without seeing the tractors in question.
