I was using my IH 1066 today and the 3 pt hitch was working find and then it would not go down all the way. It will go up all the way and down less than half and back up and down less than half way. Had a rear blade on the back and piling brush and checked and there was no limbs or any kind of interference that was not letting it go down all the way. What could be the problem? Thanks

Willy If the top link in side slid past the bottom the hitch will go all the way up and not come down any.

I kinda agree with the tractor vet but the thing is if the arm from the top went around the bottom arm the hitch goes up and stays up. You mentioned that it come down a little ways. I'm thinking that the U-clamp that holds the bottom arm to the draft shaft might be broke or somthing else could be bent allowing the top arm to go forward more than it should. If you can't tell if anything looks odd and you have another tractor or access to(06'to 86' series) pop the top link cover off and try to compair. All you have to lose is a gasket for the cover.

Just a pet peeve of mine seeing that junk all over and having to peel off 5 layers of it to replace the gasket. Don't get me wrong though, I've had to use the stuff before to.

Pull the top link plate off and Look inside and on the right you will see and lever hanging down and a lever -rod arm what ever ya want to call it the top one should be on the back side of the bottom one use a hook or pice of baler twine , wire what ever to pull the top one back and put it on the back side .

Willy,

Aw heck! I agree with the others then. That finger must have come unhooked inside.
